Hyperliquid order types
Hyperliquid supports the order types most traders expect from a centralized exchange. Using the right one can save fees and limit losses.
Order types
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Market | Fills immediately at the current price |
| Limit | Fills at your price or better |
| Stop Market / Stop Limit | Becomes a market or limit order when a trigger price is hit |
| Take Market / Take Limit | Like stop orders, but triggered on the profit side |
| Scale | Places several limit orders across a price range |
| TWAP | Splits a big order into smaller ones over time |
| Trailing Stop | Triggers after price pulls back a set amount from its best level |
| Chase | A post-only limit order that keeps repricing to the best bid or ask |
Order options
- Post Only (ALO): only rests on the book, so you always pay the lower maker fee.
- Reduce Only: can only shrink a position, never open a new one.
- IOC: fills what it can now, cancels the rest.
- GTC: stays until filled or cancelled.
- Take Profit / Stop Loss: close a position automatically at your target or limit.

Which to use
- Use Limit + Post Only to pay maker fees (0.015% vs 0.045% taker at base tier).
- Always attach a Stop Loss to leveraged trades.
- Use TWAP for large orders to reduce slippage.
